TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – The pre-trial hearing to identify the suspect in KPK v. Mimika Regent, Eltinus Omaleng in the alleged corruption case in the construction of Kingmi Mile 32 Church, Mimika Regency, was held again in the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (24/8/2022).
The trial was scheduled to take place to hear witness statements from the defendant, the KPK.
KPK provided fact witnesses from the Supreme Auditing Agency (BPK), the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Atma Jaya University, Yogyakarta, and. Rewan Tjandra as an expert in state administrative law.
In his statement at the trial, the witness from BPK said that KPK had already asked to expose corruption allegations in the construction of Kingmi Mile 32 Church.
“We asked the BPK to expose the alleged corruption in the church building, and then the KPK again asked to account for the state’s losses,” said a BPK witness.

Meanwhile, Rewan Tjandra agrees with the petitioner that the BPK is the authority to determine whether or not there is a loss to the state.
“We have to see the stages. Ultimately, BPK will determine whether or not there will be government losses,” Rewan said.
He stressed the importance of calculating the state’s financial losses before identifying the suspect.
“That later it will be determined whether someone is guilty or not, there must be an account of the state’s losses from BPK,” he continued.
